CLASS DESCRIPTIONS

BALLET – This is the fundamental component in the training of any serious dancer. Ballet includes basic dance steps and positions using the barre and center floor. This beautiful dance form also increases flexibility, balance, control and strength. All ballet dancers have one thing in common: a love of grace, beauty and discipline of ballet.

COMPANY/COMPETITIVE/TRAVEL CLASSES – These Mini Company classes are for the members of our competitive dance teams. These classes are taught in all styles of dance for the competitive performer.

​

STRENGTH & CONDITIONING -   For members of our Dance Company. This class will focus on strengthening and conditioning the muscles which in turn, will help perfect jumps, leaps and turns that are essential in many dance styles. It also will help gain added flexibility. There is no recital involvement for this class.

​

HIP HOP - An energetic form of dancing which possesses a great sense of attitude. It allows dancers to perform with freedom of movement while adding in their own personalities. If you like to spend time watching the latest Hip Hop videos, then this is the class for you.

​

JAZZ - Emphasis is placed on technique which develops the ability to move and control each part of the body using isolations. Learn to perfect your kicks, leaps, jumps and turns in this upbeat class.

​

TAP - Classes will focus on rhythms & coordination as students learn the meaning of steps such as shuffles, flaps, wings, time steps, etc. Steps are taught by rhythmic tapping on the floor including heels, toes and balls. Each tap class turns into a new musical creation. 

​

TINY TOT & JR TOT COMBO- A class for adolescent young children including ballet, tap and creative movement. Dancers will learn basic steps and terminology in ballet and tap and explore their own creative movement styles using imaginative music and games in a safe, positive environment. Dancers in this class will improve flexibility and coordination through fun, age appropriate movement and exercises.

MODERN- This high energy class consists of rap, hip-hop and pop sounds, focusing on musicality and rhythm. Contemporary is an extremely artistic style of dance. It is a fusion of ballet, jazz, and modern dance, and usually contains an emotional journey, or story.

​

DRUMS- This class is geared towards those who have little or no prior drumming experience, but also easily accommodates intermediate players. For the warm-up we cover the basics such as holding and striking a drum, basic coordination drills. After that we will learn and play the rhythms

​

DRAMA- Acting is a great tool to build confidence, self-esteem, and poise. In this class actors play games, learn how to walk, talk, and listen on the stage. Improv, small scenes, and monologues will be explored but FUN is the priority.


VOCALS- This class will work on proper vocal technique and breathing support as well as expression and interpretation of the lyrics.


AFRICAN- This class welcomes all levels to participate in an energetic union of music, dance and oral tradition. Students will learn the rich history of traditional dances, accompanied with live djembe and dundun drumming. Students will express strength, improve stamina, and gain confidence.

PRAISE- Using foundations from ballet, lyrical and modern dance technique, this class helps the student in reclaiming the art of dance for the Kingdom of God.  Warm ups and stretches start the class and as it progresses through during class new steps, movement, and technique is added to expand the student’s vocabulary of movement.  


MAJORETTE- Includes styles such as hip hop, hip hop funk, popping & locking, crump, lyrical, tap, African, free style, etc. so you can experience all styles of dance and become well rounded.  Majorettes may also include props such as pom-pons, flags and ribbons. Students participating in this program perform in parades, community events.

STEP- Is a form of percussive dance in which the participant's entire body is used as an instrument to produce complex rhythms and sounds through a mixture of footsteps, spoken word, and hand claps. ... The speed of the step depends on the beat and rhythm the performer wants it to sound.

​

GYMNASTICS/TUMBLING- A noncompetitive & Competitive program designed to build gymnastics skills through progression. Activities include bars, tumbling, vault, balance beam, and trampoline.

​

GUITAR- In these fun and informative lessons, you'll build basic guitar skills step-by-step with the help of hands-on exercises, audio and video recordings, and detailed illustrations.

​

MODELING- They teach the same modeling techniques used by today's top fashion models. Classes in voice projection, self-confidence, print, and runway can help give you professional edge no matter what your ultimate goals may be: a commercial print model, a fashion model or just a bolder, brighter being. Model classes prepare models in a variety of ways: helping you to pick clothes that flatter you and providing make-up and styling pointers, teaching you how to pose and really work that camera.
